Most of the furniture we've purchased has turned out to be an ordeal.
We got 2 pieces from Babies R Us. They kindly offered to hold onto it for us, for up to 30 days, so that we could come back with a bigger vehicle. We went back the following weekend, and they resold our stuff. So, they had to reorder it. The manager, Dawn, said it would be there in 7 to 14 days. So, 14 days later, Gina called to followup and some other clown said "Dawn told you 7 to 14 business days." 7 to 14 business days? Don't be ridiculous. Its either 5 to 10 business days or 7 to 14 days. You don't just happen to use increments of business days that match the increments of full weeks. Silly. Furthermore, the paperwork clearly says 7 to 14 days.
We got that furniture. Its the last time we'll order something from Babies R US. Either they have it or they don't. If they don't, good bye.
We got a crib and bureau from Baby USA. That came in within the allotted time frame of several weeks. (To me, its absurd that in 2008 it would take several weeks to get anything, but I guess I'm too optimistic.) That became a big debate about when they would deliver and assemble the stuff. That wasn't real bad. It was more funny than anything. After a failed attempt last week, Gina called to setup a new appointment for this week. They already had us down for 6-11pm last night. They insisted that someone called to make the arrangements. There are only 2 of us. Neither of did it. My theory was that either we weren't going to get the delivery, or someone else wasn't going to get theirs. By the process of elimination, the latter is the only remaining possibilisty.
The room is painted, the border is up, and most of the furnituer is assembled. Snoopy switch plates are on order. All we really need now is a kid.
