Ellie

I don’t know if I’ve talked about Ellie on this blog yet. When we first learned that Gina was pregnant, there was a blackout period due to work concerns, proper etiquette with notifying everyone, etc.

Anyway, baby #2 is due on 5/25/2010. That date is pretty solid as it’s a scheduled C-Section. The only way the date would vary is if it has to move up due to a complication, or if there’s something good on Tv on the 25th that I simply cannot miss.

We tossed around a few names. Gina always liked Emma. I liked Emily for a while. Madonna seems too pretentious. Thomas doesn’t work because she’s a girl. Gertrude is too funny. Finally, I got ELLIE in my head, threw that out there, and that’s what we went with.

I don’t recall the moment that I thought of ELLIE. Ellie is the name of a character on Chuck, a Tv show that we really like. But, if that was the reason, I think I’d remember it. Watching the oscars this year, I was reminded that one of the characters in UP is also named Ellie; I had completely forgotten about that.

While it’s very likely one or both of those characters are contributing factors to my preference for the name, I can’t say for certain which (if either) got my metal gears turning. But, it’s a cute name that we both like, and we’ve been calling her that for month.

Gina likes ANN as a middle name. I like Ann, but “Ellie Ann Allard” is a tongue twister. We’ll see what happens there. I’m still hoping for Thomas.

May 25th is less than 2 months away. Time for some more diapers.
